This is a song about when Christians struggle with the character of God, with the goodness of God. This happened to me when reading through the Bible early last year. I got to a couple of difficult passages in Deuteronomy and Joshua, and I felt like the answers I was finding weren't satisfactory.

Later that year, those passages were discussed at length in a Bible study and I understood things much better. But this song was written when I was still frustrated by my questions.

This song doesn't paint a perfect or easy picture of the Christian life. This is a song that I didn't know if I should even release, because I don't know if I was right to question God how I did. But we pray it makes you think about your own questions and helps you to honestly and faithfully seek answers from the Lord, His people, and His word.

A god of my own making
