This is the first song off of our upcoming album, "Made in the Image", which is a concept album about identity. This song is about national identity-- about losing God as the center of our country and the consequences of us rejecting Him.
Deuteronomy 8:11-15, 17-19
Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery....You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed.
lyrics
[Verse 1]
We’re divorced in outrage
No patience to disagree
People enslaved in comfort
Losing their grip on reality
I don’t know all the answers
But I know that we can’t stay the same way
[Chorus]
Where are we going, we don’t even know
Who we are without You, we are without You
Oh when will we realize we’ve lost every hope
When we are without You, we have nowhere else to go
[Verse 2]
One nation under chaos
The aimless land of the free
Some of us bleed conviction
While others fade in apathy
What truth still holds us together
And what keeps us from falling apart
[Chorus]
Where are we going, we don’t even know
Who we are without You, we are without You
Oh when will we realize we’ve lost every hope
When we are without You, we have nowhere else to go
[Bridge]
Are you empty?
Don’t you feel happy?
You want it, become it
But nothing is waiting, waiting for you
Searching for purpose
The thing you can’t purchase
You crave it and waste it
Forgetting the one who saved you
Forgive us for we know not what we will lose
[Key Change Chorus]
When we are without You, we are without You
Oh when will we realize we’ve lost every hope
When we are without You, we have nowhere else to go
[Key Change Bridge]
Are you empty?
Don’t you feel happy?
You want it, become it
But nothing is waiting…
Searching for purpose
The thing you can’t purchase
You crave it and waste it
Rejecting the God who made you
We are without you, we are without
